Network Troubleshooting and Methodology

Network Troubleshooting and Methodology is a 6-week course designed to introduce students to the basic concepts andtheories of troubleshooting. The course focuses on troubleshooting methodologies that identify problems and employmanageable, practical steps to correct the problem. These steps include identifying the problem, determining the probablecause, testing cause-hypothesis, creating a feasible solution, implementing, and verifying the resolution, and adjusting for re-engagement.

Describe Network troubleshooting methodologies.

Understand troubleshooting tools, hardware, and software as well as develop a “toolkit” for troubleshooting.

Identify network issues and segregate using the OSI model.

Analyze and evaluate network logs and configurations to mitigate network issues and concerns.

Analyze and understand network maps and diagrams, and utilize Network maps and diagrams to isolate, define, andcorrect network problems

Develop network troubleshooting documents and follow-up.
