Frequently asked questions

The Department of Defense (DoD) Skillbridge Program is an initiative that connects transitioning service members with civilian employers for job and training opportunities during their last 180 days of military service. Through Skillbridge, service members gain valuable skills, transitional experience, and networking connections to facilitate their transition to the civilian workforce.

Active-duty service members within all branches of the US military who meet the required criteria and have completed at least 180 days of continuous active duty are eligible to participate in the Skillbridge Program. Participants must also obtain command approval, be within their last 180 days of military service, and have documented post-military plans.

To apply, service members should visit the DoD Skillbridge website, explore the available opportunities, and follow the application process for the specific program or training they are interested in pursuing. It’s important to allow ample time for the application process, including acquiring necessary command approval. For more information about the CBET.EDU Skillbridge program, Servicemembers and their families are encouraged to contact a Skillbridge Coordinator at the College of Biomedical Equipment Technology by calling 210.233.1102 or by email at skillbridge@cbet.edu.

The College of Biomedical Equipment Technology has a uniquely designed Skillbridge program that includes an accredited educational component and when possible, an On-the-Job training component. The education component of the program will encompass the entirety of the Service Members approved Skillbridge program (determined by the Service Members Commander). Additionally, when OJT components are established, the duration of the OJT component will be determined by the partner healthcare organization.
