Medical Terminology & Anatomy

Medical Terminology & Anatomy is a 6-week course designed to introduce and strengthen the student’s basic knowledge of the bone structures and the main systems of the human body and the language of medicine. Utilizing a systems approach, the course will focus on basic elements, rules of building and analyzing medical words, and medical terms associated with the body as a whole. Also, the course will define, interpret, and pronounce medical terms relating to structure and function, diagnosis, clinical procedures of the healthcare system as they correlate with equipment repair, calibration, and preventive maintenance. The student will learn and develop the ability of the Biomedical Technician to communicate with the healthcare staff confidently and competently. Students will be prepared to recognize the anatomical and physiological aspects of the human body required to repair, calibrate, and perform preventive maintenance, checks, and service of medical equipment.
