Medical Equipment Technician (MET 200 Series)

6-Weeks Online and 1-Week Hands On (Optional)

Technicians enrolling in the MET 200 Series training have the flexibility to choose from four distinct delivery options designed to accommodate various learning styles and preferences:

100% Online Instructor-Led Course: Participants engage in a fully online format, accessing course materials and participating in weekly live webinars with an instructor for a comprehensive six-week learning experience.

Online Course with Integrated VR Labs: This option combines a 100% online instructor-led format with integrated virtual reality (VR) labs. Technicians will take part in weekly webinars while also gaining hands-on experience in a simulated environment, enhancing their practical skills and understanding of the material.

Hybrid Format – Online Course Followed by Hands-On Training: Technicians will complete six weeks of online instruction, followed by a week of hands-on training at the HTM Training Center of Excellence in Hudson, Ohio. This format allows for theoretical knowledge paired with practical application of skills in a supported setting.

Hybrid Format with Integrated VR Labs: This option includes six weeks of online instruction featuring live webinars and integrated VR labs, followed by one week of hands-on training. Technicians will benefit from the immersive simulation experience before practicing their new skills in real-world scenarios at our training center.

Course Overview

MET 200 Series is a comprehensive six-week course designed for Biomedical Equipment Technicians seeking to enhance their expertise in the dynamic healthcare technology landscape. This program delves into functional areas, providing a nuanced exploration of medical equipment repair plans, healthcare technology management, safety protocols, medical equipment function, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration, along with the utilization of medical databases, multiple technical references, information systems, and information technology. By providing an advanced curriculum and practical experiences, the MET 200 Series aims to empower intermediate-level technicians with the skills and insights needed to navigate and excel in the complex field of Biomedical Equipment Technology.

Articulate the principles of Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) within resource-limiting settings, demonstrating an understanding of the unique challenges and strategies for optimizing medical equipment use in such environments.

Evaluate cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities associated with the maintenance and repair of medical devices and formulate effective cybersecurity protocols to safeguard sensitive healthcare data and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Develop comprehensive Repair Action Plans that effectively assess, document, and address medical device malfunctions, ensuring the alignment of repair strategies with organizational policies and safety regulations.

Demonstrate proficiency in Communication Fundamentals by effectively conveying technical information across diverse audiences, utilizing appropriate methodologies for both written and verbal communication within healthcare teams.

Analyze medical device regulations and compliance requirements, including the implications of non-compliance, and recommend best practices for adherence to these standards within healthcare settings.
