6-Weeks Online and 1-Week Hands On (Optional)
Technicians enrolling in the MET 100 Series training have the flexibility to choose from four distinct delivery options designed to accommodate various learning styles and preferences:
100% Online Instructor-Led Course: Participants engage in a fully online format, accessing course materials and participating in weekly live webinars with an instructor for a comprehensive six-week learning experience.
Online Course with Integrated VR Labs: This option combines a 100% online instructor-led format with integrated virtual reality (VR) labs. Technicians will take part in weekly webinars while also gaining hands-on experience in a simulated environment, enhancing their practical skills and understanding of the material.
Hybrid Format – Online Course Followed by Hands-On Training: Technicians will complete six weeks of online instruction, followed by a week of hands-on training at the HTM Training Center of Excellence in Hudson, Ohio. This format allows for theoretical knowledge paired with practical application of skills in a supported setting.
Hybrid Format with Integrated VR Labs: This option includes six weeks of online instruction featuring live webinars and integrated VR labs, followed by one week of hands-on training. Technicians will benefit from the immersive simulation experience before practicing their new skills in real-world scenarios at our training center.

Course Overview
The Medical Equipment Technician (MET) 100 Series training is a comprehensive six-part course designed for aspiring entry-level Biomedical Equipment Technicians. The course is designed for hybrid delivery, including 100% online and hands-on instruction. Students benefit from a blend of comprehensive online content with weekly live instructor-led training (ILT) webinars, immersive XR laboratory content, and an optional hands-on training component. The Medical Equipment Technician (MET) 100 Series course provides foundational, entry-level training for new technicians. The course is aligned with the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI)) Certified Associate of Biomedical Technology (CABT).

Course Objectives
Explain medical terminology, the interactions of body systems, and the application of medical devices in clinical environments, demonstrating comprehension of their functional roles.
Describe the purpose and common faults of medical devices, while utilizing tools, including test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment effectively to maintain and repair medical devices.
Identify and apply safety protocols, risk management strategies, and regulatory compliance standards essential to the medical field.
Demonstrate knowledge of electrical and electronics theories, including the identification and interpretation of electrical components and circuits.
Analyze the impact of information and networking systems on healthcare environments, focusing on their relevance to patient care and operational efficiency.
Develop and implement structured repair plans utilizing problem-solving techniques to address technical issues in medical devices.
Evaluate workplace hazards and apply mitigation strategies, including universal precautions and infectious control measures, to ensure a safe healthcare environment.
Investigate the fundamentals of information systems and networking, emphasizing security requirements for medical devices to protect patient data and maintain device integrity.
