Dental Equipment Technician Program (DENT 300 Series)
6-Weeks Online and 1-Week Hands On (Optional)
DENT Series training is offered in both 100% Online and Hybrid formats. The Online option consists of six weeks of instruction with 3–8 hours of engagement per week, including live instructor-led webinars. The Hybrid format includes the same six-week online component, followed by one week of hands-on training at the Dental Equipment Repair Training Center of Excellence in San Antonio, TX. Course Overview
The DENT 300 Series, Dental Delivery Systems, course is designed for beginner to intermediate Dental Repair Technicians (DRTs) and Biomedical Equipment Technicians (BMETs) looking to build practical, equipment-focused skills. This course concentrates on the operation, maintenance, and repair of key dental delivery components, including dental x-ray systems, chairs, and delivery units.
Participants gain hands-on experience working with common equipment configurations, learning how components function together within a clinical environment. Emphasis is placed on recognizing equipment behavior, performing routine service tasks, and addressing common performance issues using manufacturer resources such as service manuals and technical documentation.

Course Objectives
Dental X-Ray Systems
- Understand how dental x-ray systems generate and process diagnostic images
- Differentiate between system types, including intraoral, panoramic, CBCT, and portable units
- Identify installation requirements, including electrical connections and regulatory considerations
- Recognize the function of digital sensors and image processing components
- Perform routine maintenance tasks
Dental Chairs
- Identify key components, including adjustment mechanisms, plumbing, and electrical systems
- Differentiate between hydraulic and electric chair designs
- Understand installation requirements and setup considerations
- Perform routine maintenance
- Diagnose and troubleshoot common issues
- Follow safety standards, including electrical safety and infection control
Delivery Units
- Identify essential components, including handpiece controls and positioning systems
- Differentiate between traditional and unit-mounted delivery systems
- Understand system operation and clinical functionality
- Perform routine maintenance
- Troubleshoot common issues such as leaks and control malfunctions
- Adhere to safety regulations
Problem-Solving & Technical Skills
- Apply structured reasoning and problem-solving techniques to dental equipment
- Interpret equipment readings and convert common measurement units
- Analyze diagrams and technical data from service manuals
- Identify equipment issues and determine appropriate corrective actions using available resources
