Course Overview
DNV CHOP-A Certification is an individual certification designed for Operations Professionals working in the healthcare environment. The certification is the first certification offered as part of a three-part series of certifications designed to enhance healthcare professionals’ understanding and familiarity with NIAHO, ISO, NDPA 101, and NFPA 99 standards.
The training portion of this course consists of three (3) weeks of instructor led, training in an Interactive Distance Learning (IDL) environment, During the course, students will engage directly with a qualified instructor and other healthcare professionals, participate in live weekly webinars, and conduct case-study research exploring contemporary topics associated with healthcare accreditation and compliance.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be permitted to participate in an electronic exam administered by DNV. Approved participants must complete and pass the exam with a minimum score of 80%. The exam will be made available for one (1), two-hour timed attempt within 14 days of completion of the IDL portion of the course.
Although anyone working in a healthcare setting may attend the training, there is a requirement to complete the application process for those wishing to sit for the exam to obtain CHOP-B Certification.

Course Objectives
Examine and distinguish among the various governmental and non-governmental agencies and
organizations regulating and accrediting healthcare delivery organizations in the United States; develop a foundational understanding of DNV Healthcare business operations, culture, and philosophy.
Examine and interpret the National Integrated Accreditation for Healthcare Organizations (NIAHO)
accreditation requirements and interpretive guidelines for critical access hospitals.
Identify and distinguish laws, regulations, and standards related to healthcare accreditation.
Compare and Contrast National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 101-2000 and 101-2012 regulations and standards; analyze and describe the differences as they pertain to healthcare accreditation and compliance.
Corelate National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 101-2000, 101-2012, and NFPA 99-2012 regulations and standards to National Integrated Accreditation for Healthcare Organization (NIAHO) standards.
Evaluate ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and correlate the ISO
standards to those described by the National Integrated Accreditation for Healthcare Organization
(NIAHO) standards; identify standards relevant to healthcare facilities.
Based on National Integrated Accreditation for Healthcare Organization (NIAHO) standards, identify the various levels of non-conformity and explain the implications of non-conformity in healthcare accreditation and compliance.
